Dear Nicholas,
Ive being following your work for some time and it is very good. I am also walking the same path as you. My dream is to be a motivational speaker and influence many people. I will give my first seminar in a few weeks. Would you like to share a few ideas about how do you prepare yourself to be motivated and talk? I am findind it difficult to organize the thoughts and deliver them at the same time, in a meaningful and sistematic way. Its like having the mind full of information and the tongue blocked. can you help me somehow? thank you very much,
Organize your thoughts first, then deliver them :)
To me, content is the key to being a good teacher. Once you have your content right, everything else should come naturally.
What subject/topic are you talking about? What are the examples, points and stories are you giving to put across your message clearly and effectively?
For example; If your talking about 'How to ride a bike' you may talk about the 'risk' (as an opening topic) then give examples and points about it. Then you might talk about 'balance' then give ideas, tools and examples about that. Then you might talk about 'speed' then give small examples about that.
Each topic will build up to your entire lesson/presentation. Delivery is most important. If you can deliver your key points right, then your speech will be great.
Having confidence in your content and what your going to be talking about will assist you to deliver your message more powerfully. It's the knowing of your step-by-step content is what's going to allow you to deliver a good speech.
Once you structure your talks into categories and speak in terms of each category, then your whole speech/lesson will come across clearly and easily.
Mainly because you know your content!
So that's my advice, KNOW YOUR CONTENT! Put it all together neatly, make it understandable and profound as possible, then deliver it!
Go over your content, practice out loud and practice with peers/people until you are confident when delivering your speech.
It is impossible to be tongue tied when you already know what your going to say and you know what your talking about.
